COMPILATION – Independent Music scene in Lebanon
Mejwiz selected 17 musical titles composed and produced by independent musicians living in Lebanon. This original playlist aims at giving a general perspective on the local scene. 1000 CD copies were printed out and distributed to professionals of the sector in diverse local festivals, and to the artists themselves to provide them with a promotion tool for their own musical production.
DABAKA – The Album
DABAKA is a musical project that bring together Lebanese and Syrian artists around an audio-visual performance. The outcome is a unique album and an exceptional show. Revisiting the folkloric “dabkeh”, a dance and musical practice emerging from the Levantine’s common heritage, the artists joined their passion and talent to reclaim its place within a contemporary context. The project hopes to encourage more dialogue between artists in the cultural scene and to foster a greater understanding of the unique role art can play in bringing people together.
